Ottawa is preparing for a significant transformation in its hotel industry as four international hotel brands—AC Marriott, Moxy, Renaissance, and Hard Rock Hotel—are set to make their debut in the next few years. Prior to the pandemic, Ottawa was attracting nearly 11 million visitors annually, contributing over $2.2 billion to the local economy, according to Ottawa Tourism. Strategic Hotel Openings to Meet Growing Demand
The first of these new hotels, AC Hotels by Marriott Ottawa Downtown, is set to open in the fall of 2024 in the heart of the Byward Market, one of the city’s most vibrant cultural districts. With 159 modern guestrooms and five event spaces spanning over 3,600 square feet, this hotel is designed to cater to the needs of both leisure and business travelers.
Following closely behind, in spring 2025, Moxy Ottawa will bring its signature energetic and playful atmosphere to the Byward Market as well. Targeting a younger, adventurous clientele, Moxy’s 224 guestrooms will create a dynamic and fresh hospitality experience, appealing particularly to millennial and Gen Z travelers seeking an urban getaway.
One of the most anticipated openings will be the Hard Rock Hotel Ottawa, slated for late 2025. With 150 guestrooms and 22 suites, the Hard Rock Hotel promises to bring its iconic blend of music, entertainment, and luxury to Canada’s capital. The development will also include an expanded casino, featuring 1,500 slot machines, 40 live-action table games, and a 1,800-seat Hard Rock Live theatre. This venue is expected to host high-profile events, drawing crowds from both near and far, while creating approximately 1,900 jobs during construction and ongoing operations.
In 2027, Ottawa will see the grand opening of the Renaissance Marriott Ottawa, which will occupy a 35-storey high-rise downtown. The hotel will feature 230 guestrooms and 6,000 square feet of meeting space, with the building also housing 270 rental apartments, a restaurant, and a bar. Located in the city’s core, this multifaceted development is poised to become a landmark for both residents and visitors.
