Minimum Wage Increases Across Atlantic Provinces
As of April 1, 2024, the minimum wage has risen in all four Atlantic provinces, reflecting adjustments aimed at supporting workers in the region.
Newfoundland has implemented a notable 60-cent increase, setting the hourly rate at $15.60, which stands as the highest minimum wage in the region, at least for the time being.
In Prince Edward Island (P.E.I.), the minimum wage has climbed by 40 cents to reach $15.40. Moreover, an additional 60-cent increase is scheduled for October 1, 2024, elevating the island’s rate to $16.00.
New Brunswick has also raised its minimum wage, increasing it by 55 cents to $15.30, further aligning with the upward trend in the region.
Nova Scotia saw the smallest increase, with a 20-cent hike bringing its minimum wage to $15.20, underscoring the diverse adjustments across the Atlantic provinces.
