LVMH Expands Cheval Blanc Hotel Portfolio with Sardinian Property Acquisition
LVMH Hotel Management is set to expand its luxury hotel portfolio into Sardinia by acquiring the prestigious Hotel Pitrizza. In 2026, the property will be rebranded as Cheval Blanc Pitrizza, marking LVMH’s first foray onto a Mediterranean island. The acquisition comes as part of a management contract signed by LVMH, which will oversee the hotel’s transformation into a luxury Cheval Blanc-branded destination.
Rebranding and Renovation Plans
Hotel Pitrizza will operate under its existing name and structure until 2026, after which LVMH will officially rebrand it as Cheval Blanc Pitrizza. The rebranding will coincide with an extensive renovation, designed to elevate the property to the standards synonymous with LVMH’s Cheval Blanc brand. The hotel, located on a pristine white-sand beach accessible by boat, will retain its distinctive Sardinian charm while incorporating modern luxury elements.
Key features of the hotel include a saltwater pool carved from local granite rocks, 65 rooms and suites, a spa, restaurant, and a kids’ club. Sixteen of the rooms are independent villas, each with a private pool. The property is known for its use of local materials like granite, terracotta, and dark wood, which will likely be preserved and enhanced during the renovation.
LVMH’s Expanding Hotel Portfolio
The acquisition of Hotel Pitrizza is part of LVMH’s larger strategy to expand its Cheval Blanc luxury hotel brand, which has gained a global reputation for exclusive, high-end properties. The brand debuted with Cheval Blanc Courchevel in the French Alps in 2006, followed by the Cheval Blanc Randheli in the Maldives in 2013 and Cheval Blanc St-Barth in the Caribbean in 2014. Each hotel in the collection is known for its unique design, exceptional service, and integration with its surrounding environment.
In 2019, the company added the iconic Résidence de la Pinède in Saint Tropez to its portfolio, transforming it into Cheval Blanc St-Tropez after extensive renovations. The most recent addition, Cheval Blanc Paris, opened within the historic Samaritaine in September 2021. The company also has future projects in development, including one in the Seychelles, further solidifying LVMH’s position in the luxury hospitality market.
Strengthening LVMH’s Presence in the Mediterranean
The rebranding of Hotel Pitrizza as Cheval Blanc Pitrizza will enhance LVMH’s presence in the Mediterranean, offering high-end travelers a new destination in one of Europe’s most sought-after regions. Sardinia’s renowned beauty, combined with the exclusive Cheval Blanc experience, is expected to attract elite guests seeking luxury, privacy, and personalized service.
By aligning Hotel Pitrizza with its prestigious Cheval Blanc brand, LVMH aims to further its vision of creating luxurious, intimate hotels that provide unparalleled guest experiences. The addition of Cheval Blanc Pitrizza will undoubtedly strengthen the group’s foothold in the luxury travel sector, as the brand continues to expand across the world’s most desirable destinations.
