Radisson Hotel Group’s Saudi Vision: Expanding Horizons with Sustainability and Innovation
Radisson Hotel Group (RHG) is embarking on an ambitious journey to solidify its presence in the Middle East, with Saudi Arabia leading its expansion plans. Elie Milky, VP of Development for the Middle East, Cyprus, Greece, and Pakistan, shares insights into RHG’s strategic focus, growth initiatives, and commitment to sustainability in the region.
Saudi Arabia: The Cornerstone of Growth
With 29 hotels already in operation and 17 more under development in Saudi Arabia, RHG is targeting a remarkable milestone: 100 hotels by 2030. This aggressive expansion aligns with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 initiative, which emphasizes tourism as a pillar of economic diversification.
“Our focus extends beyond major cities like Riyadh and Jeddah,” Milky states, “to holy cities such as Makkah and Madinah, as well as secondary locations.” These expansions aim to cater to a diverse audience, including religious pilgrims, business travelers, and tourists, by offering well-positioned, accessible, and premium hospitality experiences.
The group’s strategic developments in Makkah and Madinah underline its commitment to religious tourism. Milky explains, “We are designing properties that address the unique needs of pilgrims, ensuring comfort and convenience at every step of their journey.”
Introducing New Brands and Concepts
RHG is also focused on diversifying its portfolio in the region with two new lifestyle brands: art’otel and Prize by Radisson.
– art’otel: Aimed at art enthusiasts, these properties feature immersive cultural environments inspired by the works of signature artists.
– Prize by Radisson: Positioned to cater to cost-conscious travelers while maintaining high standards, it reflects RHG’s strategy to offer varied experiences across market segments.
Milky highlights the importance of collaborations with local governments, businesses, and real estate developers to bring these innovative concepts to life. These partnerships aim to empower small and medium enterprises (SMEs), creating job opportunities and fostering socio-economic growth.
Sustainability at the Core
Sustainability is a guiding principle in RHG’s Middle East development plans. From design to daily operations, the group integrates eco-friendly practices, including:
– Energy-efficient technologies and renewable energy solutions
– Sustainable building materials
– Advanced water conservation systems
“These measures not only reduce our environmental impact but also contribute to long-term cost savings,” Milky asserts. By embedding sustainable practices, RHG is creating hotels that are both environmentally responsible and financially viable.
Revitalizing Communities and Heritage
RHG’s growth strategy emphasizes more than just economic gains; it aims to enrich the cultural and social fabric of the regions it operates in. By focusing on secondary cities, the group seeks to position these areas as vibrant tourism hubs while preserving local heritage and traditions.
“The expansion into these locations will enhance infrastructure, drive tourism, and ensure long-term sustainability,” Milky notes. This dual approach ensures both the economic prosperity and cultural preservation of the communities served.
Looking Ahead
RHG’s vision for the Middle East is bold yet deeply rooted in purpose. With Saudi Arabia accounting for 70% of its development pipeline, the group’s initiatives align seamlessly with the region’s growing emphasis on innovation, sustainability, and tourism. By merging modern hospitality with cultural authenticity, RHG is setting a new benchmark for hotel development in the region.
As Milky summarizes, “Our commitment to sustainability, economic growth, and guest satisfaction reflects our belief in creating lasting value for both our guests and the communities we serve.”
