Myrtle Beach’s Bold New Offerings: Canadians Invited to Explore Beyond the Beach
After a hiatus, Visit Myrtle Beach has returned to Canada to share exciting updates on the destination’s transformation. In October, key tourism officials visited Toronto and Montreal to showcase how Myrtle Beach is evolving beyond its famous sandy shores. Diane Charno, VP of Brand and Communications, shared the destination’s renewed excitement to welcome Canadians, highlighting the significant developments in accommodations and attractions post-pandemic.
Myrtle Beach is not just about the beach anymore. The region has seen remarkable growth, with more than 80 properties undergoing renovations or expansions, and new hotel investments strengthening the area’s diverse offerings. Boasting 157,000 bedrooms across various accommodation types, from short-term rentals and beach houses to traditional hotels, Myrtle Beach has become an increasingly attractive destination for Canadian visitors, particularly in the wake of its post-pandemic recovery.
Charno emphasized the destination’s rapid hotel revenue growth, which positioned Myrtle Beach as the fastest-recovering destination in the U.S. The rise in group travel has also played a crucial role, as Myrtle Beach continues to attract conferences, festivals, and events, including the long-standing Can-Am Days, which returns for its 64th year in 2025.
For Canadians, Myrtle Beach offers a unique blend of proximity and affordability compared to other destinations. The region’s appeal lies not only in its accessible beaches but also in its entertainment-focused attractions, including the new Mini-Golf Trail, Beer Trail, and the PGA Tour event, the Myrtle Beach Classic. Beyond the beach, 14 distinctive communities within the Grand Strand provide visitors with a variety of culinary experiences, local culture, and year-round entertainment.
Golf, a standout attraction, has also seen a resurgence post-pandemic, attracting new generations of enthusiasts. With over 80 golf courses, Myrtle Beach has reaffirmed its status as the “Golf Capital of the World.”
Charno and her team continue to collaborate with travel advisors to keep them informed about Myrtle Beach’s latest developments. With over 1,000 attractions and year-round events, Myrtle Beach is ready to welcome back Canadians with a renewed focus on what sets it apart—offering more than just a traditional beach getaway but a complete entertainment experience for all ages.
