Travelodge Opens Its 600th Hotel at London’s Oval Cricket Ground
Travelodge has expanded its presence in London with the opening of its newest property next to the iconic London Oval Cricket Ground. This 95-room hotel showcases the group’s latest design, introduced in 2022, along with the innovative 85 Bar Café concept, gradually implemented in selected properties.
Developed in collaboration with Surrey County Cricket Club, the hotel enjoys a prime location just a minute’s walk from Oval Underground station on the Northern Line. Sustainability takes center stage in the hotel’s design, boasting a BREEAM Excellent rating and an Energy Performance Certificate rating of A.
Among its eco-friendly features are Air Source Heat Pumps for water heating, EV car charging facilities, roof-mounted solar panels, and green roofs for energy conservation. Inside, guests will find low-energy lighting with motion-sensing controls and water-saving measures such as aerated showers and taps in the bathrooms.
This landmark opening marks Travelodge’s 600th property and its 81st hotel in London. With six more properties under construction, including hotels in Bermondsey, Beckenham, and Chiswick, the brand continues to expand its footprint across the capital.
The Bermondsey hotel is already accepting bookings from 15 July, while reservations for the Beckenham and Chiswick properties are forthcoming. Additionally, Travelodge recently announced plans for a new hotel within walking distance of London’s Stratford Station, adding to its portfolio of convenient city locations.
Jo Boydell, Chief Executive of Travelodge, expressed pride in the milestone achievement of the London Oval Cricket Ground property, emphasizing the brand’s commitment to quality, sustainability, and guest satisfaction. With a focus on growth and innovation, Travelodge aims to enhance its offering while providing exceptional value and service to business and leisure travelers alike.
